Default XM Antenna

Lexus needs to do something about the black box antenna that mounts on the edge of the trunk lid. I've seen them on LS430s, and that is one seriously ugly blight on the car. I put an aftermarket system in my LX470, and it used a much smaller, round antenna.

Default XM now and Sirius later

The first LS430 XM install intstructions placed the 2 inch square black antenna on the driver's side of the trunk lid. I agree it looked distracting. One of our first installs was for Wolf Blitzer so he could listen to CNN while he was driving his Black LS430. Later on we asked Lexus if it would be allright to move it to a center placement near the rear brake light on the trunk lid. They said that was fine and we install all of the LS430's and ES330's that way now. After market systems use a smaller antenna and some are put on the interior dash. They require a separate face plate to be added somewhere in the dash area or glovebox. This is not as slick as the Lexus color Nav. screen display with SAT1, 2, and 3 screens that have 6 presets each and full message display, artist history etc. at a touch of a button. The digital audio is outstanding and should reach its full potential on the new GS Mark Levinson 7.1 surround sound with 330 Watts and .01 THD. Everyone that has purchased the system so far has loved it.

We will offer a Sirius tuner sometime in the Spring. You can add Satellite radio to the LS, ES, LX and now GS models whether or not they have Nav or Mark Levinson.(Std on LX470's)

Default Cost of XM installed

This may have been mentioned elsewhere but just in case--what will be the cost of the XM satellite installed in the GS?

Do I understand correctly that this will be a dealer installed accessory and as such may vary dealer to dealer?

Default Dealer installed OEM XM

Every dealer has their own prices but $800 to $950 should be the range. Strictly dealer installed.
