Default 2010 lexus gs350 trunk and bumper replacement

so I got rear ended a few days ago. the insurance company wants to total the car out, but im thinking to use the money to buy all the body pieces to fix my car. I found a local junk yard who actually has all the parts I need however. I can't find any instructions on how to remove the trunk lid and fix this part. anything will help, and maybe what else should I get or look for besides just the lid. I see I need some trust to assist with lifting trunk. but im not sure. I want to get all the parts replace it all then use the rest of the money to get windshield and car painted.

When you buy the new trunk you will see on the harness where the connection point is, and you can work your way to it and undo it. Hopefully its as easy as that and just swap it over.

But I would buy the trunk hinges aswell, your trunk looks like it shifted. Also that left quarter panel looks like it took a hit, your back left door is the body gap the same as the other side? Also does that door open and close freely? With that damage I would suspect the trunk flooring and back panel (where the trunk latches) to be bent. Once you mount the new trunk you will see if it is bent and how far off. I would remove the plastic bits, and grab a hammer and a small strip of 2x4 and gently hammer evenly that back panel until it reaches the latch.

Why didnt you allow the inurance company to total it out, and then you buy the car back as a salvage. I would assume they pay more and you get to keep the car.

Thanks for your reply! Im a dumb*ss and didnt realize that i dont have comprehensive insurance in Michigan, and Michigan being a no at fault state I'm covered under my insurance. Luckily I do get the Mini-tort payment from the person's insurance who hit me. I have a friend whose family owns a part store and is looking for the parts for me. I'm actually planning on fixing all the bodywork I need done. Front bumper, front driver door, front pass quarter panel, now trunk bumper, light, and windshield.

I've been putting new parts on week by week. I just fixed my exhaust, I have the downstream o2 sensors, front and rear struts.

Ya theres frame damage, would be best to put it on a frame machine. What you can do is strip the parts down, install the trunk, take the car to a mom n pop body shop that has a frame machine and just tell them you want them to pull the trunk panels out a bit. Shouldnt cost much money. Because at this stage the trunk wouldnt line up, nor would the trunk seals work and when it rains the trunk will be full of water.

Its possible you can bend the trunk back yourself using a block of wood and a sledge hammer. Slowly tapping it straight

You can go to a junk yard and cut off that plug from both sides and solder and heat shrink wrap each wire. Or you can go to any auto parts store buy a generic 5 or 6 wire harness plug and splice that in.

thank you! would this be the reason why my trunk, backup camera, trunk button inside and rear trunk lights (located on the trunk isnt working, it seems like they aren't receiving any power). yes I tried disconnecting my battery, I also made sure the button in the glove box isn't pushed, I also tried the ecu b fuse removal under the hood. thanks
