I have a 2007 GS450h. I went to get the tires replaced and when I got it back, pretty soon I got a bunch of warnings - "Check Hybrid system, Check VSC and Check ECB". Looking at these forums, I thought it might have to do with the 12V battery, but it seems to be okay. The car basically ran fine for a couple of weeks, but twice in the past week, the engine refused to respond to the accelerator and I had to coast to a stop. But I was able to get it going again after turning it off and back on again. I then got the OBD2 dongle and installed TechStream via VM on the Mac and was able to connect it up.
Is the battery caput? Why did that happen soon after I replaced the tires - was it a coincidence? Any advice on what to do next? Should I go to the dealer or a local (San Jose area) hybrid battery expert? I am happy to reconnect the cable and get any more info from TechStream that might be relevant.

I have a 2007 GS450h. Hybrid battery is done but I want to know if it makes sense to purchase brand new battery ($4300) or buy a used battery. Mechanic says do not buy refurbished or aftermarket battery.
I've read some decent reviews from people buying aftermarket batteries, and it comes with 2-3 year warranty, so its not too bad. Unless you're willing to shell out oem price lol. I would go the aftermarket route in my situation in the future, but that's just me.
You can also change individual battery packs with used ones bought online. I've seen a few do it themselves on the forum. You can also have a qualified mechanic swap them out.
