About that time to replace tires on my GS460.. mostly concerned with a quiet tire as the car is not driven in poor weather.. recently put a set of Bridgestone WeatherPeak tires on my wife's NX300h and they were notably more quiet but I was interested in hearing opinions on quiet tires for my GS.. Costco happens to have Bridgestones on sales this month but can wait for the right tire.. appreciate any comments!
While I dont run stock sizes ive been happy with Firestone firehawk indy 500s on 3 of my car. And im about to add them to a 4th car. Great budget summer performance tire with good wet weather handling. Though below about 50" you got to be careful on them.
I just replaced my DWS06 with DWS06 plus on my 06 430. Incredibly quiet and comfortable. The only issue is that they seem to follow road crowning a little much when new.
My 460 came with Bridgestone runflats. They were pretty rough. I swapped those for new Sumitomo 245/40/18, they were great, for the price. Rode quieter and smooth. Then I put 19"s and found some used 245/40/19 Goodyear Eagle Sports, which were nice but a little loud. Finally I downsized to brand new 245/35/19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They ride like butter and turn like on rails.
So for a nice budget tire, I recommend the Sumitomo HRT P03. And for top of the line, whichever Michelin suits your climate. Avoid runflats.
Mine also originally had run flats.. I feel like the ride is rougher due to the low profile tires but maybe its just my tires.. Costco won't put 19's on since they originally came with 18's.. But sounds like the Pilot Super Sports give the buttery ride!?
I had heard great things about the General AltiMAX RT43 tires on multiple forums and got them for my 2002 ES300 and have been impressed. They seems to be a great tire for the price. I will be putting them on my 06 GS430 when it needs new tires in the near future. I have Michelin Pilot Sports on my Infiniti and they're also a great tire but they aren't cheap.
