Was heading home in stop and go traffic and the cars in front me stopped fast. I hit my brakes. I looked in my rear view as I normally do and saw lights coming up fast. I heard the screech of tires. I felt the dull thud. Old Toyota pickup driven by a very apologetic yuppie listening to the Raiders game. Damage does not look bad - at least in the dark. He managed to turn to the right and ended up just clipping the bumper and right rear quarter panel. I'm about ready to take a look in the light, now. Sigh....
oh SHOOT! damnit, that's bad man, sorry to hear that! what the hell is wrong with all the gs around here these days, man we can't get into enough accidents? i hope it's just pure cosmetic. often times rear end accidents, the frames are shifted and need to be straightened out.
Sorry to hear about it red. See! Having great brakes will help you but not every other car around you. At least you are Ok and it seems like the other driver is cooperative.
On the plus side, like Dave said, kit? Also did the tail lights get damaged? JP?
I took a closer look in the light. There are several parallel scrapes with curling paint from the end of the bumper to the wheel well. Amazingly enough, I don't think the panels were damaged. I'll have to drop the car at a shop to check for anything hidden.
I'll have to tell my wife that the tail lights were damaged, though. JP, here I come.
Well this is just way too many GS incidents for us NorCal guys. Even though I have big brakes, I try not to get into the habit of braking too hard in traffic unless I really have to.
Matching your paint will be a key concern now. Don't know who to recommend. It will be a good time to consider getting a bodykit or atleast having other parts of the car re-painted.
sorry to hear that...............it is frustrating to say the least.
not to say it was not driver error but it makes you wonder if that guy had better brakes would the result be any diffrent ........i mean when we have so many regulations on smog(which may kill us a little sooner in the course of our lives) why not focus on more important stuff like brakes/tires etc. where the threat to your safety and the safety of others around is more imminent. in so many countries you have to pass vehicle inspection where they drive your car and inspect most vehicle functions like abs/brakes, tires etc and if you fail the inspection you have to change the part and can't register until then.
on second thought maybe i'm just rambling
sean
btw the new lights/ body kit idea seems good
This was definitely driver error. He stopped paying attention for just an instant and all the cars in front of him stopped. Oh well. In the grad scheme of things this is very minor. No one was injured nor great property damage done.
This just might push me over the top with regards to getting all those rock chips and scratches fixed. And if I'm going to get the car painted I might as well get a kit, right? [Work with me here.] And if I'm going to put that much $$$$ into the car then the insides really should be updated, too. Nice sound system upgrade, Nav, hard wired Valentine, etc.
