Default Got a flat. Now Crazy wobble at 50+mph

Ok so I got a flat on the , pulled over as soon as I noticed. Now the car feels like the rear subframe is steering itself over 50mph and it ends up being a crazy wobble going left and right. Truly feels like the rear of the car is going to pass me haha

Drives normal as far as I can tell under that speed.

I have a 4Runner of the same year (2000) and had the control arm bushings go bad and it felt pretty similar but not as bad. The bushings don’t have to be very visually beat up to cause scary problems I learned.

I did a little flex testing but I don’t know what healthy bushings look like on our cars.

On the plus side it could help initiating a drift haha

Bent wheel? Do you have a wheel/tire you can swap in to test?

Missing a lot of details. Was the tire repaired, how was it repaired? Who repaired? Is the spare on?

Well i didnt have the right size spare so i had to put two different sizes wheels on the front and back. Low profile wheels in the front and RX300 wheels in the rear since i had them around. Ive driven on both sets of these wheels separately and they were ok except i know that one tire out of the set of low profiles does have a shake, i dont think i put it on because i dont feel the wheel shaking or anything.

Tire pressures are ok. Completely rust free car pretty much

I do have other wheels to swap in but i dont have a complete set of the same ones to test. I take it this will be the first step.

I do my own repairs unless things get out of hand. I have been in the car game for a while, mainly turbo Nissan stuff, building motors and burning EEProm chips (haha who remembers that) but new to this platform. I can service it but im no pro with diagnosing suspension issues

Thank you guys

I have a few days with a lift. Might pull the rear subframe out and see if anything looks loose

It pulls to the right when I give it gas and when I let off it goes left. Rear control arm bushings?

Anyone make a good set of polyurethane bushings for the rear of our cars?

Yeah sounds like bushings gone bud. Shaking though could be tyre balance is out and it's triggering the suspension slop to move enough and cause you issues. Also check shocks are not leaking/clunking.
Edit: if your shocks are like the 3gs you can't really inspect the bushing at the bottom easily without removing them. You can see the sag of the bolt through centre line of where you'd expect the shock rubber to be sitting.

So the wobble started after you changed wheels, including one wheel that has a history of problems. Odds are excellent that the new wheels are the cause. It's unlikely that the rear subframe developed a problem at the same time, unless there's more you haven't told us.

Get the flat fixed, put the original wheels on and see if the problem continues.

I changed out the spherical bushing thing. Still wobbly but it was obviously bad so that's OK.

I'm getting some wheels lined up. Already got 2 stock wheels and just need a few more good ones at a junkyard.
I have to leave the project for a while and come back to it in a month or so. I should have good wheels and tires by then as a starting point.

that bushing was shot, it'll also lower your car and cause alignment to be out, so good fix man nice work. At this point I think wheel balance/wheels now you've got any offending rubber out the way.

edit: there is no play when wheel mounted back normally eh? e.g. you cant shake/wiggle/clunk it side to side?

Are you using Toyota/ Lexus lugnuts on stock Toyota/Lexus wheels and regular lugnuts on aftermarket wheels?
