When you changed the entire actuator did you use the same actuator?

I don't think I ever changed my passenger side actuator, I changed my driver side since it was going out when I bought the car.
This door ajar problem started randomly, it had been sitting in storage for the winter previously. I bought the used door latch assembly, then replaced that actuator, with the old one that was in my passenger side door, since it was working fine, and the replacement one looked really janky.
Pretty sure there are sensors inside of the actuator. Wouldn’t doubt you still have an actuator issue even though they lock and unlock
AFAIK the red circle is the sensor for the door, and the yellow circle is just the lock actuator which I brought over from the old one. Even when I had the "new" actuator in there the door open light was still on. Had no idea the lock actuator had anything to do with the door sensor.
Have you tried to wiggle the wires going into the harnesses to see if the light will turn off. I would open the door and push the latch so that it thinks the door is closed. Wiggle the wires and see if moving something makes the light turn off. Maybe something has a short

Yeah maybe, I'll give that a shot. I tried using a circuit tester on the ecu and it seems like it was getting power, I didn't test the sensor though, maybe I'll give that a try as well. Thanks!
As ph0bolus explained the door ajar sensor is built into the latch and is the small grey 2-pin connector.
This sensor can sometime fail and short closed (indicating an Open door).
Unplug the 2-pin connector. This will make the vehicle think the door is closed all the time. If you continue to get the "Please Close Door" message on your display you will know the problem is not with your latch, it is further up in your electrical system (BCM, ECU, wire harness....).
If the problem does stop then get yourself a new latch.

Damn, why didn't I think of just unplugging the wire to the sensor? lol...it's been raining up here so haven't had a chance to troubleshoot it further, but will definitely give these all a try Monday. I'll report back. Thanks
I took it apart again, disconnected the power to the sensor, put everything back again. Turned the power on and....door open lights still on 😩.
At this point, I'm guessing I'll just need to buy a whole new door, because the wiring seems to be ok.
Sorry I misspoke, unplugging the connector is equivalent to a door open. Grab a small wire jumper or a paper clip and connect the 2 wires. This is a "Closed Door" signal.

I thought that sounded odd, but it’s been a while since I’ve worked on a GS.

So, I was able to get into it again today. I plugged both sockets with a speaker wire, and the door open light was still on.
I then tried to simulate the door closed, by pushing the little door latch in the door panel down, and stuck a screw driver in there to emulate the metal door latch, and still the door light was on.
Finally, I disconnected the power from the sensor to the door ecu
And the light finally turned off, BUT the doors won't lock/unlock when using the door controls,
and the passenger side window won't go down. Not sure what else won't work with that wire disconnected.
