Default Question about telescopic Auto till steering wheel

I have a 2001 Lexus GS300 that I bought used years ago I noticed that even when I bought it when I put the key in the ignition the steering wheel does not greet me like other Lexus GS that I've seen on the internet my motors in the steering wheel are starting to go out cuz they are slowing down but could that be the reason why when I put my key in the ignition the steering wheel does not greet me. in the beginning when I bought my car the steering wheel motors worked fine but my steering will never greeted me when the key slid into the ignition I really like that feature and I'm hoping that when I replace the motors maybe it will work

It's possible that the tilt-away feature was disabled by a previous owner at a Lexus dealership. I did, for the sole reason of not putting undue stress on the motors when having a wheel fixed in place while entering and exiting doesn't bother me. Hell, my Miata doesn't even have a tilt wheel period.

If your motors are starting to fail as you say, then enabling this feature will just hasten their departure from the world of the living.

If you look in the “DIY FAQ” section, you’ll find a how-to under the interior section, that will walk you through cleaning up the motors, bearings, and greasing the motors and mechanism that controls the steering column. The motors don’t get used very much adjusting the steering wheel, so they should last as long as the rest of the car. It’s possible the brushes need to be replaced. Mine was starting to get a little lazy, but it’s been solid and silent ever since I took the time to service it.
As far as it no longer moving in and out with the key, that’s probably been switched off at a Lexus dealership. If the joystick controls the wheel fine, you’ll need to go by a dealer and have them turn it back in for you.
