So glad I gave it to my bodyshop guy and he did it for no extra charge.. I hate tedious crap like this. Sorry I can't offer any words of advise.. I think it just slides on though?

It does not slide on. The bottom trim is screwed in with 5 or 6 screw to the inside of the outside plastic door panel. You need to remove the bottom two screws that hold the plastic door panel firmly to the door. Once you have the two screws removed, the bottom of the panel needs to be carefully pried away from the bottom of the door to free the snap-in clips. Once you have unclipped the bottom (not the top or the entire piece) you just have enough room to remove the 5 or 6 phillips head screws that hold the bottom trim. To install the new piece, do everything backwards.

I did not remove the door panel at all to get the trim installed. I would however recommend that you are very careful when prying the clips on the bottom of the bottom door panel away from the door itself. I'm not sure if the top of the bottom door panel is held on with screws or clips as well. Prying the panel too far away from the door can damage the panel....

I hope that helps.
