Hood release cable/latch

Hood release cable/latch
Just curious if anyone here could help me out. I own a 2000 Toyota aristo jzs161 and my hood release cable is acting up was wondering if the cable/latch mechanism is the same as a lexus gs300.
Does the JDM car have the hood release lever on the drivers side (ie right hand side). If so. I would guess that the GS amd Aristo would be different since the GS cars have the lever on the left side.
