Default 1998 gs400 electric issues

So recently I’ve bought a gs400 and got it running, the battery was dead for Some time before I got the car and was removed prior to me buying the car, once I got the car I noticed my windows and sunroof don’t work at all but will open when the key is turned in the door, the driver side switch panel doesn’t light up aswell, I’ve looked at many fuses and nothing is wrong, also my climate control doesn’t work at all, half of the buttons light up but none of the buttons do anything and the digital screen shows nothing, lastly my speedo doesn’t work at all but everything else in the cluster works, not sure where to start with all this honestly, I changed the 120 amp fuse for the alternator and before I changed it the climate control was working so I have no clue where to go from here. If anyone has any ideas I’m open to them haha, P.s. I tried another driver side window switch set and still got nothing

Hey just an idea I'm not sure myself to be honest. But i would check the connectors inside the door panel, there are two plugs one for the lock and the window controls and another I believe is for the mirrors. Check if the wires are frayed or busted or if the plug itself is messed up. For your climate control i can suggest the same or finding one in a junkyard and testing it that way. It might just be old and bad. As for your speedo, i have no clue. I'm not to familiar with that area.

This website is very helpful keep searching. Hope this helps and good luck

I had a problem similar to this and immediately suspected a blown fuse. So I got out a flashlight, crawled under the drivers side of the dash, and checked all the fuses. Couldn't find a bad one. So I started checking to see where Is was losing power, and couldn’t find any power in the wires as I chased them down. Pretty soon I ran into another fuse box, then another and then another. No exaggeration, this car has 4 fuse/relay boxes. There is a specific fuse that gets pulled when the the car is being shipped on a truck, It is specifically designed to turn off any of the parasitic draw on the battery, like the clock and memory in the radio. Keeps the hvac from working etc. it could be your culprit. Someone might have pulled out on purpose to keep the battery charged while it was sitting. Make sure you find the one I am describing and Good luck

So Lexus's (at least all Lexus's I have encountered) when you unhook the battery for any length of time, it resets the ECU, and it has to relearn the window switch functions. So if they aren't working because of that, then there is a procedure to reset them. On the Lexus RX350 mt fiance had, it was holding each window switch to the full down position, then full up position and then full down, then full up, then it relarend it the auto function worked again. Have to do it at each door for it to work again at the drive door too.

Now if they aren't working at all even at the switches, that's odd for them all to not work at the same time, but then the will work with the key in the door. That tells me the motors are all good. So it's potentially switch related, or somewhere else. You have already checked fuses, but you could try switching fuses out with the ones that pertain to the switches and see if that makes a difference. Also, double check the wiring underneath the dash, specifically around the ignition. Also, wouldn't hurt to clean all your ground in the engine bay. There's 3 that I can think of off the top of my head, and they are kind of obvious if you are looking for them. One on the passenger side by the fenderwell, one on the passenger side near the firewall, and one on the driver side on the fender.

Typically when only one gauge isn't working in the cluster, that points to a sensor relating to that gauges, or possibly the gauges it self being an issue ( as well as any of the wiring pertaining to it). I can't really help there because I don't have experience dealing with that on these cars. But standard electrical practices apply here, test wires and see what you get, and go from there.

Does your ac compressor clutch kick on? If so, then your ac is functioning at least, so it is more of a control panel issue. Could be the control panel is bad. The radio control panel is bad on the gs300 i recently got. Doesn't light up so you cant see what setting you're on, but it works.

We bought a Scion XB for our grandson last year. I was doing some work on it which required removing all the door panels. Found out individual door windows wouldn't operate if the driver's switch panel was disconnected.
