I have an intermittent non-op of my trunk opener from pressing the key fob button. My normal lock and unlock of the doors works fine every time and I have a new battery in the fob. The latch from the drivers seat works fine. What module and where is it that receives the signal to open the trunk? I can't find any information on this. When it decides not to work, no amount of presses of the button will open it. And this is only when I have my hands full of course.
Car only came with one key. Don't even have the master for it. I replaced the battery yesterday after figuring out my lock actuator ground because it was the same as it had always been before replacing the trunk. Intermittent non-op since I got the car. Now that it's back to working my mind is back on why the fob signal isn't working a lot of the time. The red light on the fob does light up when pressed when its in the non-op stage. Not like the key is falling apart or the butting not working or anything. I am able to lock and unlock the car from a greater distance now. But no change in the trunks intermittent behavior.
I was going to say, validate that they key button is sending a signal, without or without the red light blinking. Our local auto parts store has a generic receiver, to tell you if your fob is transmitting anything.
The key that came with our GS4 was intermittent on lock for a while, then it stopped working, yet no light. Gave us the excuse to get a new Lexus key, and get the key and fob programmed.
If you're light is blinking, and you're transmitting, and the lock is intermittent... the the fun begins...
The key you have is the master key if it has buttons on it if I were you I’d make a spare ASAP
Believe the key tip defines master, not the fob... and if the security light goes out instantly or after delay, after insertion. You can have a master without a fob, and a valet with a fob (too bad they never made a fab with just door function, with removed or disabled trunk button).
Also, believe the security chip is passive, while the fob is active. We have a master with bad lock button, that works just fine with the ignition. We keep it around as a spare, just-in-case.
