its a lot of work. i'm gonna start in the winter if everything goes well.
yes, blue onyz is tough to find. I've been looking for a 2003 blue-onyx GS300 with navigation/ML for months now. In fact, I gave up convincing the wife to get the 430 because she is so in love with the color.
I have the dealer on the look out for this car. Stevens Creek in San Jose has the blue onyx without the NV/ML but I really like the 'toy' aspect of that option.
It looks very close to black but in the daytime, you'll notice the blue tint to the car.
Anyone know if this color will be available in the 2004?

My GS is Blue Onyx and the color is really nice. Its very hard to appreciate how nice the color is by looking at pics bec it looks black in the pics. You have to see it in person. The color is very rare but i have seen a few other GS with it in nyc, a few 430s too, so it is possible to get it. I love the spectra blue as well, too bad they stopped making it, otherwise i would of definitely got it.

I talked to the dealer and put in something called a preference order. He took a $500 deposit and said that the next GS that was built that way--color and NV/ML would come to me. At the same time, he said that there wasn't a 100% gurantee that I would actually get the car. No car means I get the deposit back. Is he on the up and up.
Can you actually special order a car to your exact specs... and what happens to the price when you do that?
You can special order the car to your exact specs at the dealer at no additional cost.
The dealers all have to order their cars. Each car is ordered with the kind of options that the sales/fleet manager wants, so when they order their cars, they can order one for you with your options in mind.
They may want a bigger deposit and if it's something out of the ordinary and you back out of the special order, they may not return your deposit. Other than that, you should not have to pay anything extra. You'd have to wait a few months for it.
