GS300 Fuel Cell
Hello again! I wrote my intro a few weeks ago - I bought a low mileage 99 gs300 to build but try to keep it as sleeper as possible. My issues is that I am having a fuel leak issue with the car right now - the gas tank has a rusty hole on the seam (I am guessing why I was able to get the car so cheap - did not know about this when I bought it). A replacement tank seems to be over $600(just the tank) and 4-5 hours to repair(drop exhaust, driveshaft, ebrake cables, straps, line), and I would never trust a NY gas tank from a junkyard. A fuel system upgrade was a modification that was planned on later in my build timeline - but it seems I will be doing it a little earlier. My question is - who has set up a fuel cell in their gs300s? I found a few SC300s that were swapped but have not found anyone doing it to their gs300. My goal is 600hp over the next couple years. What fuel pumps? What Modifications were made? Thanks you!

Per your tank, "J-B Weld 8217 TankWeld" should work.. depending on where the leak is, you might be able to fix it in the car.
Just a personal preference, yet a factory tank is much nicer then losing most of your trunk to a fuel cell... and no re-running the filler cap, pressure line, fuel level sensor wires, etc.

The stock fuel pump will not support 600hp, lol.

Realistically, you'd probably want something in the vicinity of 5-600lph for that power goal, based on what I've read of other people doing. Err on the side of more if you're running E85. An in-tank plus an in-line is a good bet.
Sorry for the derailment, OP.

So i have decided to just put a stock tank into the car. Maybe someday down the road I will put a fuel cell and bigger fuel pump(when its needed) in it but it seems like a pretty big project and loosing a lot of functionality of the trunk(if not all). Another question for everyone - while I am dropping the exhaust, drive shaft and everything else - is there anything I could do while its all torn apart? Thanks again everyone!

How sure are you that the rusty seam is the source of the leak? What if the module seal is leaking and you are just seeing where it is coming down at? Id remove the rear seat and look at the top of the module. If it looks wet, try tightening the ring cap. I had this happen the other day smoke testing a Honda for an EVAP leak. Under the car with pressure, you could hear a faint leak and smell fuel and there was evidence of some fuel leakage down a side of the tank. The boss wanted to drop the tank. I went to the module and found it loose. After tightening, EVAP system showed no leaks and no more fuel smell. Worth a check.

Nearly 100% it's the seam. I put the car on my lift the other day and it was rusty around the seam and there was only fuel leaking below that seam line.

Oem tank is fine, no need for a fuel cell. PHR makes a great pump setup to get you to 600hp(and a lot more)- https://www.powerhouseracing.com/pro...us-is300-gs300
