2000 go 300 eats alternators

2000 go 300 eats alternators
I have a 2000 GS300 on its 6th or 7th alternator. I just replaced the connector for the voltage regulator and have checked for shorts in the circuit and good grounds. Any ideas on what to look for as a root cause?
