Default Centigrade to Fahrenheit

Hello CL Members,
I have a question in regards to settings. I just traded my 300 for a 400!! The only thing is, it’s a Canadian model, my question, is there a way to change the Air Condition system from Centigrade to Fahrenheit? Or is this something I need to have the dealer look at? Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Not certain but I think this can be changed in the C-Best settings which only your dealer can do for you..

Do a search here on CL under C-Best and look at the list to see if that is something that can be changed..

Hope that helps!

Default A/c

Actually, the change is not that simple. I checked into this when I was looking at an awesome 98 LS and it was a "Canadian Car". The entire heating and a/c control module in the dash must be removed and replaced with a US Spec one. I got prices anywhere from about $800-$1500.

You can check with your dealer or a local auto A/C repair shop to see what it involves with your particular car.

Good luck.

Default Farenheit

In case you need mathematical calculations:

degree Farenheit = (degree Celcius * 9 / 5) + 32

Have fun

I dunno if this would help you but I guess you could give it a try..

TOYOTA A/C DIAGNOSTICS
* 800-622-2033 is the toll-free number for Toyota/Lexus service literature & manuals

* 800-993-8335 is the toll-free number for Toyota special service tools.

On Toyota/Lexus automatic temperature control systems, the A/C warning light will flash if a fault has been detected. No scan tool is needed to read the codes. You can read the code by turning the ignition on while simultaneously pressing the A/C control AUTO switch and RECIRC/FRESH (R/F) switch. If there is a code, the number will be displayed on A/C control head.

Note: On some vehicles, you may find a Code 21 for a bad sunload sensor. This may be a false code if the self-diagnostic test is run in a shop with poor lighting.

After entering the sensor check mode, press the DEFROST switch. This will run a series of self-checks on every monitored component in the system.

To clear the codes on 2002 Camry models, simultaneously press Front and Rear DEF mode buttons during the DTC check, or remove ECU-B fuse for 20 seconds or more.

updating this thread:

changing the climate control unit will not affect weather it shows in C or F. so at least that part is clear now. it must be some control unit somewhere else in the car.

Forgot to update. but proven and found the answer.

To change the climate control from Celcius to Fahrenheit or vice versa you need to swap out the right side body control module located attached to the back of the right side fuse box.

You may need to cross reference the part# to be exactly the same you are replacing as this will also affect whether your parking brake illuminates, ECT works as well. then look for the US version or CAN version.

What may happen is you will need to have the key remotes reprogrammed to the vehicle for then lock/unlock and trunk open to work again on the key remote.

Another interesting note, I swapped the body MPX module #1 in my USA spec 2001 GS300 with a Canada spec MPX module - out of a 1998 and my temp DID change to "C" - HOWEVER, I was not able to connect to the body module to program it with Techstream.

I suspect that the module must be either 98-00 for a 98-00 car or 01-05 for a 01-05 car.

Also - once I disconnected the module from my 300, with no module installed, I can start the car and the temp still stays in "C" - but none of the functions in the car work that are controlled by the MPX.

cross reference the part#. they change through the 2gs years.

thats why i suggest to verify the part# on the body module first before ordering or searching for its canadian/us version.

you need the tech stream or if possible reprogram the key remote back to the car. in order to get your lock/unlock, trunk unlock function to work.

i sourced out my canadian passenger body module from a toronto wrecker.

Do you have the part # for the module you ordered?

I looked it up and so far found quite a few #s.

So far I have confirmed that 98 Canada spec module for the ONE GS400 I looked at is 89221-30070.

I'll try to get time to confirm the second GS4 I have along with the 01 GS300 and 02 GS430 - which are both US spec. - I'll also check my Aristo to see.

I wonder whether the part # even maters since the "C" or "F" is probably programmed after the units are built. For instance, even though my 98 GS4 had P/N 89221-30070, that part# could have been programmed at the factory as a "C" or "F" - depending upon the intended market.

I can't believe the Techstream, for all it's features - doesn't allow you to change this.
