Default P0980 vs p0761

Ok, so from what I understand P0980 and p0761 are both codes resulting from an error with Shift Solenoid C.

What are the differences between these codes? I am getting code p0980, and was curious if the fix was different then p0761.

P0980 is shift circuit high, so I was wondering if P0980 might be indicating that something might be wrong with the PCM, wiring, or something else rather then the Shift Solenoid C.

I am still trying to figure out weather to have diagnostics ran, and the solenoid replaced at a transmission specialist, for a higher price. Or just have my solenoid replaced at my local mechanic, as I already have the solenoid and would be much cheaper.

Car is also giving out code p0717 (input/turbine speed sensor a no signal).

This problem sucks.

My code is P0980, and 07117. Im trying to figure out if replacing the solenoid is the fix, as it it seems to be with P0761 according to my research. If it is, I will just have my local mechanic replace the solenoid, instead of paying for someone to diagnose the issue.

My concern is that the code P0980 might be a wiring issue or a problem with the computer or something, rather just the solenoid itself and Id like to be sure before I spent the money.

Over 10,000 into a 14 year old car already ;(

At 120k right now

...what are your symptoms?

Also paying someone to diagnose the issue might be the smartest thing to do...

i live in a rural area. Toyota says go to Lexus. Honda will diagnose my problems for 121$, they will put in the solenoid for 475$. Is this a bad idea?

Closest lexus dealer is 2hours away.

They have recommended getting diagnostics done first.

I cannot install it myself and have already bought it off ebay.

Prease help.
