Default lumpy idle after oil change

Need some help with lumpy idle. After I changed my oil car was running fine. Went to top it up without a funnel due to laziness now oil is everywhere!

Car has a lumpy idle. Enough to shake the car. Runs fine when not idling however. No check engine light and unable to read codes (have an aristo v300, although my OBD2 reader plugs in just fine, it can't connect to the ecu).

Found one of my plugs covered in oil and cleaned her up. Cleaned up all the oil. Still not running right. Any suggestion how to fix her? Would also love to know how to read codes on this car.

Thanks!

What do you mean "top it up"? Did you overfill it? Good way to destroy your engine.

it is not overfilled. Top up to get the oil level closer to the top of the dipstick, instead of bottom

Did you check while it was hot, or when it was cold? Makes a big difference.

Both cold and hot. It's not an oil level issue. I changed the plug that got soaked in oil so maybe coil? No cell light though

Might have to wait till a code comes up. all my plugs are filled with oil and still runs fine but of course every situation is relative. The whole oil top off could be coincidental, don't let that blind you to any other possibilities. Could be a small crack in a vacuum line or something, ya know? Could have tapped a brittle line while pouring the oil... Just something else to think of

I wish a code would come up. Driven a few hundred kilometers since I had this issue and no code. I cant read the codes either, JDM ecu doesnt seem to work with the OBD2 reader.

Could it be obd1? do a google search on reading without a code reader, there are many different ways to do so.

Yeah there's a trick to making the torque app read Toyota's retarded jobd, they stopped using the format entirely after 05. One thing that I recall watching about a rough idle was the VVT oil control valve, maybe try and look it up on YouTube

Has the idle returned to normal since you made this thread? An oily plug would have been a reasonable cause for that lumpy idle, but was there a leak causing it or just the one messy pour?

idle has not returned to normal. There are no leaks, oily plug was caused by my stupid pour. No codes, put back some older plugs inplace of the front three plugs and still lumpy idle. Plugs and wire are new, less than 10k KM on them.

Perplexed.

Anyway to test each component with a multimeter and determine definitely if anything is working or not? Coil, plug and wire?

Failing that I am tempted to trash the whole ignition setup and go to a 1zz setup if I can figure out how to get the tach to work without the OEM ignigtor.
