Of course. New cars are objectively safer. Most of them are also vastly improved in every other area.

It was rated as 'Good', the highest rating for that test back in 99. By today's standards it would probably not be impressive. However, I wouldn't call it a death trap. Far superior to a 98 Corolla without an airbag.

Default Safety

Is a modern day GS, say 2015, that much safer than a 98? In terms of tech yes, like airbags and sensors of course, but what about structure, rigidity, frame, crumple zone, etc?

In the moderate offset frontal collision test, the 2015 GS performed as good as or better than a 2002 model, in every measurement.

open a 2gen gs door then open a 4 gen door, one is solid the other is just thin sheet metal
