Default Key on position buzzing noise

My car makes a buzzing noise when the car is positioned to the key on position. It doesn't matter if I start the car up or leave it in the on position. The buzzing noise lasts about 5-10 seconds. Car drives fine, any idea whats going on?

Edit.. It is not the AC servo noise, i am very familiar with that. the buzzing noise is consistent where the AC servo noise cuts on and off.

As I always say though, when it comes to figuring out a sound, you MUST post a video or audio clip. Sound descriptions are relative.

Most likely though, its going to be the brake booster loading up.

Did you do a search on buzzing? There are 39 threads on this, buzzing sounds are quite common. Even if its not the booster.

Can you upload a sound sample? My old 98 GS300 used to make a buzzing sound when the brake unit failed.

What year is your GS?

Thats a different sound and stays on, its the ABS. His is only on for 5-10 seconds which most likely is the booster loading as it happens normally on ALL GS's

The sound only started to happen 2 weeks ago. the sound is behind the steering wheel area, i checked for the sound under the hood and didn't hear anything.

This is exactly what mine sounds like, i can bet the owner of that car doesnt need to start the car to get it to happen.

Apparently it is the drivers side AC servo.

Holy shat! LoL Um, I do believe it IS the servo bro (or sis?). Definitely not the booster as suspected and definitely not a "buzz" sound

have you tried playing with the "blend" button to see how/if it changes the consistency of the noise?

But yea, I do believe its the servo

I would say it sounds like a bad servo motor grinding the plastic gears inside. You have 4 servo's total which are the:

- Driver temp
- Passenger temp
- Vent postion
- Air re-circulation

Adjust each one separately and see which one makes that noise.

Put your ear near the gas pedal when you start the car....if you hear buzzing in that area you're in luck as it's the easiest one to get to lol. Took me about an hour to clean and replace my drivers side servo. It will require patience as it's cramped but not too bad.

Someone was kind enough to post the DIY...

Quick question, kind of off topic. Would it be my servo if my AC does not get cold and it keeps switching from inside to outside air, the compressor comes on, I refilled it with R134A still doesnt get cold. It only gets cold whenever I put the window defroster on and put temp to 65, otherwise heat works and all. Would that be a driver and passenger temp servo?
