i have a 2001 gs300 252k miles I was driving about 50-60mph and made a sudden stop at the light once I did the car completely turned off. all lights came on, I put car back in gear and it started back up no problem, has anyone experienced this? if so what could be the problem? currently the VSC LIGHT HAS BEEN ON also THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. [ need solenoid installed] just haven't had it installed yet.
You have tons of solenoids on the vehicle (Starter solenoid, vtti solenoid, transmission solenoids, ext....), what solenoid are you referring to and what are your engine codes?
Check and see if you have any loose or cracked vacuum hoses. This would happen to me about once a month after the car warmed up. It would either stall or the RPMs would get very low like it was about to shut off. It would always start right back up. Keep in mind I have a GS400 though so not sure if it’s the same issue.
its the vacuum switch valve i can't remember the code but that what it was i just haven't had the vacuum valve installed yet its connected to the charcoal filter for sure
Similar to mine road issue half a year ago.
While driving car started shutting down on road bumps. Most of the time for a half a second, so the engine was still running, but sometimes for a couple seconds, so I had to move off the road, put the car on "P" and then start it again. Same lights were on. Back then I just bought it from used dealer.
Next day, I checked the engine and in my case the issue was wires from after-market equipment removed by the previous owner. Maybe alarm, maybe custom horns, which was most likely the thing. So one of the wires was connected to the Positive terminal of the battery and after going in the front somewhere underneath in the front. I just pulled that crap out, there were couple relays rusted wires and it wasn't connected to anything besides my battery. So on the bumps those wires were hitting the body of the car basically shortcutting itself knowing that its plugged to the "+". Got it out - drove 30k miles after - no issues.
So seems like its a shortcut. My guess would be to start with Checking the terminals on the battery. How tight, condition... Good luck
