Car Turns on by itself ! keeps cranking without key!
Hey all over the past month ive been having issues with my car , one day it was raining and the battery was dead i jumped it , and once i jumped it started up and it kept cranking as if i was holding down the key which i wasn't. i researched it and it may be the relay switch , i removed relay switch and it stood on and the over cranking went away - i also replaced my ignition switch and the relay switch. the car worked for 2 weeks normally once i replaced everything and it began to rain again and the same issue occurred this only occurs during rain weather.
any info is greatly appreciated ive owned the car for almost 5 yrs never has startup issues thx !
car has also tried starting up on its own without key in the ignition
parts replaced:
battery terminals
ignition switch
relay switch
starter was replaced almost 1yr ago

Do you have any aftermarket remote starter systems installed? Was that a Denso started installed? To me it sounds like a short in your starter. I would unplug and test the small 12v+ wire going starter solenoid on the starter and see if you are getting power when it is not suppose to.

I had similar issues with my GS years ago. In my case, it turned out to be a computer junction box on the firewall that was getting wet. Water was dripping onto the junction box from below the windshield due to rust.
You can read the thread here. It started out with quirky electrical issues, and wound up with the car sitting there running the starter all by itself, without a key.

Hey Dave,
I have the same exact issue as your car did, do you know the part number for the junction box that was replaced?
Was it in the engine bay?
Any info will be a huge help, Cheers

It's been over a decade, so I don't know the part specifically. I do know that it was the main junction box located on the firewall. Did you look back at my thread that I linked to in the post above? Maybe I had more info in there...
