I have a 1999 Lexus Gs300. Recently, the odometer stopped counting and the speedometer stopped reading. I replaced both speed sensors on the transmission. After I do the wire jump truck under the diagnosis box under the hood, it comes back until I turn the car off. Then I have to jump it again to get the speed back. What is my problem here? Do I need a new ABS module? The VSC lights are on and ABS light is on. I have a sensor at the wheel unplugged because if I plug it in, whenever I hit the brakes it makes and buzzing sound and the car won't stop for a few seconds.
Any reputable shop has a scanner that can check your ABS / Wheel Speed Sensors. My ABS sensors went out and weren’t sending out signal / speed reading back to computer. Had this same issue in my 2001 GS300 (No speedometer or Odometer). I also had the Check VSC, VSC Off and ABS light on Dash. I would check the ABS sensors first. Plenty of DIY checks if you know how to use a Volt meter.
This video explains the 3 simultaneous symptoms others have had and shows the process of how it’s fixed. Hope this helps everyone who may run into this issue.
3 issues are:
1. 1. speedometer not moving
2. 2. odometer digital display is blank
3. 3. shifting is erratic while trying to accelerate
