Alternator? Or Battery?
What's going on guys? Just recently my battery light came on and I started to realize that my car was starting to shut off. I pulled over waited about 5 minutes then continued home. After that situation occurred I bought a brand new car battery, but my battery light still flickers on and off as I'm driving. I don't know if I should drive in this condition. Does anyone know what's going on?

Clean the battery terminals completely. Some 1000 grit sandpaper to get rid of all the corrosion on the connections where they meet the terminals. Check the voltage and it should be 14 volts and up, when rev'd up. If not, is your alternator covered in greasy oil? If so then your power-steering pump is leaking on the alternator killing it. Let us know some more details to help you out. I went thru a bunch of things for the past 2 years and it ended up being the alternator going bad from a leaking power steering pump dripping on it, slowly killing it.

you can also pull your battery out and see what voltage it rests at. Try pulling it out, check the voltage. leave it over night and check the next morning. See if its about the same. If voltage dropped a lot, then its the battery. With the battery out of the car, it should rest at about 12.8 volts. if it goes down much lower than that, then bad battery.
You can also go to Autozone or Oreilys and they will be able to use an electrical module to check your electrical system and it should tell you what is good or bad. its free so drop by and just tell them you want them to come out and check your battery. only takes a few min
