Rough Idle After Intake Install
To keep a long story short, I bought a short ram intake (correct item for my car). I was keen to make sure it had the MAF sensor first and the two bung holes after. I disconnected the negative terminal of my battery, connected the hoses properly and made sure there were no vacuum leaks. I started the car and I could tell immediately it wasn't happy. RPMs went from its usual 700-800 and started falling to 400-300 and then it shot back up to about 1500. I turned it off and turned it back on and gave it some blips. I didn't see a CEL but I can tell it wasn't happy. Can someone shed some light on my situation and give me some tips/pointers to get it running properly?
Have you driven it a little to let the computer adjust itself? My car with a K&N idles low for a bit after the battery has been disconnected. It goes back to mormal after the computer has had a chance to learn and adjust itself.
I havent. I let it idle for a few minutes and saw it wasn't happy so I just took it back out and put the stock air box back. I did some more research and noticed that the stock diameter that the MAF sensor is located is actually 2.6" while the pipe that I put in had a diameter of 3". Im assuming this is why more air is going by than the car actually notices so ofcourse it will run lean. Should I put the intake back and drive it around?

Clean your maf sensor and check the connections.. i actually just had a low idle problem and it was fixing itself also after low rpms. But i fixed it by cleaning the maf and blowing on the connectors.
Running into the same problem. I can’t even drive it cause it just Boggs and dies. I put the stock box back on. Perfect nothing wrong drives fine. Fml. Any ideas. Could it be a junk filter. I’m using a hks mushroom filter with a 3in short ram intake pipe.
