On my 2002 gs300 My air filter intake system has a big hole on the air resonator (where the 3 dots are at), can this be causing my misfire it's literally random one day it's 1,2,3 cylinders ,next day it's 6 cylinders , etc. random , my spark plugs are new ,spark plugs wires new ,ignition coils are new and everything is set up correctly , and my compression is good, the way my misfire is when I accelerate from a full stop like when I accelerate from a red light after the car is fully stopped the car feels like it's struggling to go , please help tips anything

Yeah, would be a big issue as it is after the Air Flow Meter, the the ECU is measuring xx air coming in, but the actual amount the engine gets will be different.

Default Resonator with a hole

This condition would cause a lean condition which eventually could cause misfire even damage to your catalytic converter.

burteboy,

I'm 100% agree with you. Intake hose box. My intake hose box was leaking. The box was separated into the two joining parts. I had many misfire, catalystic and idler codes. I leak damaged two different catalysts on my car and it was not until I was changing the last catalytic that I found out the leak. I did not find the reason why the cat was damaged in that way because I always do all the maintenance a day 93 on gad and that was the cause. Excellent point.

I had that exact problem a while back. Found out the almost the entire bottom of the resonator was cracked. By accident too, after I checked all the hoses, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the MAF sensor, put a new PCV valve, checked the entire exhaust system for leaks and just happened to look at the box and literally laughed out loud. Got a new resonator, broke a mounting tab (brittle) installed it and BAM!!!! All fixed no more CEL.

I also had a little crack in my resonator could it be giving me a o2 sensor code p0130 and p0133? I changed my sensors 2 times and the codes come back but only when I'm driving 70 mph... also I did replace my vvti O ring for a oil leak.. put gear back on but didnt mark the gear to its original assembly but car runs excellent except for those codes.. i used only denso sensors.. plus new oem Toyota MAF, and new oem toyota air filter..

Default Same issue need help with part number

Just took off my resonator box today and discovered a crack on the bottom side as was mentioned by another user. My resonator’s printed part number is 17893-46110 but when I search for it anywhere I get nothing. Is there a compatible alternate? What dis y’all find? Last resort I will call Sewell here in Dallas and see what they say. Thanks in advance!

You can always tape these up good with duct tape or something strong to get you by. There is no pressure or anything that would overcome the tape. If it were me it would be an excuse to upgrade to an aftermarket intake lol.
