[AUS] GS300 - planning a project
Hi all,
I am currently planning on purchasing a 1998-2001 GS300 with the intention of performing an engine swap with an aristo 2JZ-GTE engine. I know a bit about cars, but I'm no mechanic by means. A good way of putting it would be that I can talk the talk but can't walk the walk. I basically understand the theory but no idea about doing the hands on as I've never done it before.
As such, I was hoping somebody here would happen to know of any mechanics in Victoria, Australia who have performed this engine swap before with this particular car. I know it's a fairly straight forward swap, but since I'm putting the money into it, I'd prefer to have someone do it who has done it before. I'm also open to suggestions to Victoria based mechanics who would do this work as well, even if they have not necessarily done it before.
I'll appreciate any help that can be provided!
Thanks,
Josh

Pole Position
I had a friend in WA do a swap, was about 10k drive in drive out. For $15k all up, get a crown or a chaser or something else tbh. An Aristo halfcut is ~5k by itself.

I do see your point, it is a $10k job. The thing is though, I can get a good nick GS for around $5-6, and I really like the look of them. Much prefered to the crown and chaser. Massive fan of the luxury sleeper and love their look. I plan on doing this as a long term job, so I'm not too fussed with the $10k figure.
Let's pretend I am totally insane with no care for money, any suggestions on who could do the swap for me? haha
