I debadged my emblems when i got my car almost 2 years ago.. Now I bought a new set of black pearl emblem kit for my car. Any tips and pointers how to put them on, as far as aligning them.

go to home depot and get a "leveler", like the one used for construction, and just return it after you after done

 

When I installed my black pearl emblems I created a template using card board paper (ie. office folders). I used the edge of the trunk as a guide for the template which is already tape to the car. In your case you would need to find another GS or go to the dealership and see if you can create the template of the existing location. This way you would not need to worry placing your emblems differently when you park your GS next to a stock one.
