Boiling sound comming from dash
Hey guys , there is a boiling sound comming from the dash, now only when the ignition is on which is really wierd, no leaks or smells so it can't be heater core, anybody ever had the same problem? Thanks in advance
You don't have to have a leak for the heatercore to make bubbling/boiling sounds, air or blockage in the system could cause it to make the sounds. Can you pinpoint the sound to either be the driver or passenger side?
well the heatercore is on the passenger side. are you hearing the noises the abs pump makes by chance?
does it sound more like it is completely inside the cabin, or more on the firewall?

If by "ignition is on" you mean it makes the noise while he engine is running check your coolant level. When the coolant runs low it pulls air into the system and you can hear it going through the heater core.
Could be the notorious "butterflies" from your HVAC actuators doing weird stuff. My 01 GS makes the butterfly noises but all the doors worked by these actuators located in the evaporator/heater core housing operate properly. Dunno why they make sounds when not being operated but I don't care either. As long as they work.

, yea it sounds more inside , I stood outside to try and hear it while I was hearing it inside but engine bay was quiet, I'll have to check it out
yes, i am not sure why those hvac actuators do that, but it does sound like boiling water.
pull glovebox and look at them while the noise is happening, do other selections of face only vrs feet or defrost and it goes away.
