Lexus GS300 2003 Power steering squeaking noise
How can i find out if my power steering pump is bad. The power steering makes loud squeaking sound when i turn wheel left and right. Ive checked all the hoses and there is no sight of leaks anywhere. The power steering fluid is full. Ive drained the power steering fluid and it was really black. I put new power steering fluid that was bright red. The car was still making loud squeaking noise after i put in brand new power steering fluid. Ive drained the new power steering fluid and it was black like the old one. Is there anything else i can check. What can be the problem.

When my power steering went out there was a small leak the dealer found, so it could be that the leak is so slow you don't see it. I actually had this happen twice, the second time I marked the level on the power steering reservoir with tape. Sure enough after a few days it went down.

I think you just need a new pump. I have an 03, did exactly what you did, and have the exact issues. Was told to just get a new pump so that's the plan. Try looking at Rock Auto.
