Best way to get usb/iPhone music capability 04 levinson? Did some searching but....
Hi all,
I have a 2004 gs430 with factory nav and mark levinson.
I found a bunch of threads about grom but also found a bunch of posts about malfunctioning.
What's the best way to get reliable and easy to use iPhone connection that can charge the phone and play music through the phone from the phone directly or apps like Spotify?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Does it provide the functionality I'm looking for? Which is to simply be able to charge and use the iPhone for music and music from apps?
Thank you!

do this to get 3.5MM into your CD Changer for Audio, then get a 3.5MM to Bluetooth for music streaming!

I have the TaoTronics BT in couple of my cars and it works very good! Check it out!
I can now answer calls and use my car speakers as speakerphone too!

clean Grom install
I just installed the Grom with great success in my 2005 gs430 with Navigation. I found a great place to fit the unit behind the a/c vent so you can't even see it and it still functions perfectly. Also the hands free mic for phone calls tucked readily in the crease between two dash parts, so the finished install is very clean.
This is the one i bought (I only stream music via my iphone using Pandora and Rhapsody, I don't need to plug in usb drives or Itunes, which would be a different unit):
Lexus 98-05 Bluetooth Hands Free Car Adapter Kit (TOYOB3) - 1 pcs x 132.99
Install was about 30 minutes, video here:
Tips:
1. My car has navigation. The car in the video does not. The only difference is you don't leave the 2nd supplied connector unconnected. when you unplug the lower left plug from the head unit to make room for the Grom, u plug that back into the 2nd supplied connector.
2. Thread the grom wire through the bottom frame of the 2 vents above the stereo. there is small gap between them big enough for the connector. once the wire is through, plug in the grom and tuck it neatly above the left hand vent careful not to crush any wires. there is just enough room so that the dash vent piece fits back into place correctly. I will say that if you choose a different GROM that you need to plug devices into, finding a good clean spot for it would be an issue you'd need to solve (the videos all stop short of showing that little tidbit).
3. as stated above, I left just enough mic wire out to neatly tuck it between the seems. the mic actually sits perfectly in the corner above the ignition.
happy listening,
