Default Preordered the iPhone 6 - switching from the Android -

Lexi is a 2014 ES 300h. When I got her - she read the texts from my S4. I kept an old iPhone hooked up to the USB port just to play music. I like the iPhone because I can search through artists and playlists. Since the KitKat update - the phone hasn't worked right as I've described before. I am unable to browse playlists and artist when connected through Bluetooth on the S4 - it will just play from the playlist I'm in at the moment.

So moving on - has anyone used an iPhone and Android in their car and if so - what are the differences in functionality? Anything I should be aware of? I got the 128 gb version so I could store all my music on my phone and not have to worry about streaming. I guess I wont need to plug her into the UBS port if I'm using the Bluetooth connection. If the iPhone is connected through Bluetooth - will I still be able to browse playlists? Important questions here

I use the Nexus 5 Android in my Lexus, KitKat 4.4 and it works flawlessly. Texts are spoken clearly and quickly. Don't use the phone for music although it is possible thru BT. I use the USB connection with a thumb drive.

I just checked on my iPhone and bluetooth. Sorry to disappoint, but I think you'll be getting the same as the S4. I'm able to have text read out loud, but it can't respond back and can only play from the current playlist (but with album, title, and artist showing). You could of course change the playlist on the iPhone and it will play on the Lexus. Maybe the next iOS being intro'd with the iPhone 6 will have it available? .

In addition to what Arty101 says, just because your cellphone and/or operating system (IOS or Android) has a feature or function doesn't mean it is fully supported over Bluetooth or by the car's user interface itself. You can go buy the most current phone if you want but that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get any new functionality when paired with the car.
