Default Door locks when put into drive.

Does the 2GS have the ability to change this feature without going to the dealer?

Many have said it is in C-best settings but nobody I can find has said wether it can be manually programmed.

The long-standing consensus is that there is no manual procedure to change this function on the 2GS. Factory scan tool is required. Also, I think it locks the doors at 5mph, not when put into drive.

It also may be a 2001+ only feature.

When you put it into gear, or when you start rolling? I realy don't recall.

There are options for both in the c-best settings. If you have both enabled, the car will lock the doors when shifted out of park, if one unlocks them before driving it will lock them again once the speed threshold is reached. They can only be changed through techstream, so any Lexus or Toyota dealer can do it.

Thought I read that the crash testing is performed with the doors locked and
so the auto lock is mandatory.

Mines immediately locks the doors when I put it in drive or reverse. Unlocks when put in park. I love it.

Yeah I feared as much, looks like I'll be buying a techstream cable and see if I can do it myself.

Not too sure about that - if that were the case, they wouldn't be able to change it for you.

Techstream cable? Don't you need the whole module/program?

I can confirm, the auto lock is for 2001+ but my 2000 can do that unlock when in park.

You will need Techstream and the OBD programmer to do this.

...

If anyone is interested, I can do a video review of some of the cables I have tested.

Same cable under $19 on Amazon.
I've used it on several Lexus/Toyota's from '98-2015
I would not mind upgrading when this one wears out, but for the past 6 months this one has been perfect.

So are you saying we can't discuss the techstream cable at all or just the software?
