Question about HKS Hipermax LS+
Hey Team,
I'm looking at getting a set of these coilovers for my aristo. I've done some searching about repairs and rebuilds on these and I know that non-inverted coilovers can be repaired. The one thing I can't find is if LS+ coilovers for the JZS161 are inverted or non-inverted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Indeed they are and with HKS having a limited amount activity in the USA it's not a guarantee that they can be fixed. Feal will only rebuild non-inverted HKS coilovers.
As you mentioned they are discontinued but still in existence. I've found a second hand set that seem to be lightly used. However, in an effort to cover my bases, I've decided to inquire about rebuilds to make sure I'm not buying a greasy paperweight.
Now, you're probably thinking that I'm a huge idiot for even considering the idea of second hand coilovers. Maybe I am a bit of an idiot but the Canadian dollar is so bad right now that it would still be cheaper to buy and repair a quality coilver rather than buying new.

I've looked into both Stance and BC Racing. I've gotten rough quotes on each. However, as I mentioned the Canadian Dollar isn't doing so hot right now and the exchange rate makes a good deal very expensive.
As I mentioned, the cost of the used coilovers is obviously much less. They are said to be in good condition but I want to cover my bases and make sure they can be rebuilt. Even with the rebuild cost they would still be cheaper than buying brand new.

Un-captive means you can wind the spring perch down (these are old, no keepers, no body adjustable) to lower it so much so that at full droop, the spring is no longer captive in the seats.
