Options For Key - No Master Key!
So i just purchased a 2002 GS sports edition that did not come with the master key, only had the valet key, therefore i can not open the trunk or have the keyless entry. What are my options for getting a master key programmed.......can i just get a blank uncut key from Amazon/ebay and have it cut by a locksmith? i know from a little research on the forum that i do need the MasterKey in order to program in another key.
The security light goes off when i insert the "valet Key" in the ignition. The trunk can not be open with the valet key i currently have because it is locked from the inside where you use the master key to lock it.
I just programmed my second master key today using techstream. From using that program, I don't think you can program any other keys with just a valet key. When using the program at least, it said that a master key needed to be inserted in the ignition to add the 2nd key. I think if you lose all the master keys, Toyota has to replace the immobilizer computer if you need more keys. They do a one time replacement where the computer is free, but you pay for the keys and the labor to replace the computer. Runs about $600+.
I don't know if you having the valet means that they can get away with not having to replace the computer, but I really think they do. You need to go to the dealer. Their computer equipment can do more than standard techstream. For instance, they can program used fobs to the computer by re-seeding the computer but you can't do that with standard techstream lite. But in this case, I think the computer needs to be replaced if you want more keys.
That was all in reference to having a master key that starts the car, controls the alarm, and operates the power door and trunk lock. If you just want to get in the trunk, I think you can just use your vin and get a master cut from ebay/locksmith. It should open the trunk manually, but you would not be able to program a fob for it because of what I mentioned above. I also don't know if opening the trunk that way would trigger the alarm since the car won't detect a master fob.

There was a change in the engine computers in 2001 that lets "Security Professional" Techstream users (i.e. dealerships) reprogram keys without a master. The dealer should be able to program a new master key as long as you prove that you own the car. Often, if you buy the key from them they will program it for free.
