This is for mcsdd, you should take one of ur cam covers and check to see if oil deposits formed in there. You won't know unless you do this. What have noticed about the oring size given on this post, the oring thickness and width is not enough. After the 3rd time me installing and taking out the timing belt and using a different size o-ring worked.

Oh OK I see what you mean. Yea I haven't taken everything back apart to check whether it's slowly leaking or not. My old orings would spit oil out even with everything put back together. When I used the new ones it no longer did that so I assumed it was fixed. If you could link the oring that worked for you that would probably help out anyone that comes across this post in the future. Thank you

Update. I just checked again, but now my right side is leaking.
I think when I had it torqued down , but had to remove the gear part again because I forgot to put the back part of the cam gear cover where it hooks onto. When I was installing the oring, I put some permatex ultra black on the outer diameter of the oring. I think it might of moved a bit. It seems tho the left side is not leaking anymore. Damn!! I have to take apart again! This will be my 5th time!
This is my mom's so I will do again. If this was mine, I would of just given up and drove it like that, but oh well! I will see it after this time.

My 1uz vvti Tbelt and motor reseal job is on hold till I can source this Oring

Is there a size Oring that worked better than the Viton 1/16" thickness, 3" ID, 3 1/8" OD ?
Im just wondering if a bigger size is what's needed.

I will be on the hunt for this Oring locally at bearing and or hydrolic shops, I would rather have this on hand before the motor gets worked on.

Thanks in advance...

Does anyone have any information on the O-ring? It seems people have used the 3 x 3 1/8 x 1/16 O-ring but a previous poster stated that leaked for him. Mine is currently apart and I replaced it with that size O-ring but I don't want to put it back together yet if this will leak or seep.

On the 1UZ it appears the factory ring was a quad ring and this size O-ring doesn't fill the groove very well. It seems to take up about half the space. It does stand proud from the groove so there is contact before bolting down the two halves but it still worries me.

Thanks everyone.
