Default safe bezel removal ??

Help ! My friend is selling his 2001 GS300 (getting a house) and agreed to switch out his chrome bezel for my non-chrome, but I don't know what is the best way to remove it without either scratching it or breaking it. I did a search for the install of a new one but can't really figure out where the tabs are from the pics (since the old one has different placement/size tabs). Is it best to use a creditcard or something slim to get underneath, or maybe a small screwdriver ? Also, which way should I try to access it from, driver's side or passenger's side, top or bottom? I only have one shot at this since they are no longer sold separately, and I don't want to be stuck with a dented one, and neither would he if I couldn't remove it cleanly. Any suggestions ??

Take a look at this thread -->click here

You'll see a picture of the chrome bezel I put on and my non-chrome one about half-way down... you can tell where the clips are from that picture.

We used a VERY slim flat head screwdriver and put a couple of tissues over the end to help keep from scratching before prying the bezel off.

I saw that Dave thanx, but when you look at the picture, on the underside, the tabs are on the left, but it all depends on how you then flip it over--flip it from the side and the tabs are now on the right, but flip it over from the top or bottom and the tabs are still on the left, see my point ? So my question is, when looking at it from the chrome side up, ready to install it, where are the tabs underneath, left or right side ? Thank again !!

Thanks Dex (and Dave !), so just to understand, since I'm removing the chrome one also, I should start from the passenger side to remove it easier ? Or does it really matter since both sides have the same size tabs ?

I don't think it matters; just be careful; just where ever you can get your finger or tiny flathead screwdriver under it. Try to squeeze the bezel a little to gain clearance for the tabs.
