Default How to turn traction control / VSC off?

I was wondering how I would turn traction control off? I know there is the VSC button in the center console area but when I press that button, nothing lights up on the dash to let me know it was turned off? Has anyone run into this before or know how I could approach this?

Maybe the button isnt working. You can open up the button and complete the circuit by hand and see if it it lights up. Worse case scenario, you can unplug one of your speed sensors, that'll do the job O_o

Does the 'VSC off' light turn on briefly when you first start the car? If it doesn't, the bulb might be out, but if it does you've probably got a wiring issue with the switch.

Why do I get the feeling someone has removed the bulbs because.....they couldnt fix the problem. I'd grab a scanner and read the codes.

I held down the button for 5-10 seconds about 3 times and nothing happened. I just got my hands on the reader and will get back to you guys tonight. I'm hoping its a simple fix!

I just plugged in the reader and it didn't give me any codes. Any other ideas of what it could be?

No "VSC OFF" indications on dash. Got it.
But is the VSC control actually working?
To be sure try this:
Spray some armor all on both rear tire treads (so you'll loose a little traction when you take off). Do you hear/feel the abs kicking in when the tire begins to spin? If so the VSC is off. Press the VSC button again and repeat.

This should help you determine whether VSC is operating correctly.

I'm not sure what its supposed to feel or sound like when the ABS is kicking it but I drove onto some leaves in the rain and floored it. It felt like i was losing traction but it would stop and I would re-gain traction and just take off normally. I know where the VSC light is on the cluster (2nd row, all the way to the right) but I've never seen the light for it come on. I just want to turn off VSC / traction control so I can spin the wheels a little bit

Sounds like the traction control is working... Now push the button and go floor it on the leaves again and see if they spin. Just may be the light bulb

So I've narrowed it down to the bulbs in the "warning" section of the cluster. Does anyone have any links on how to replace these bulbs?

I figured this out by watching a video on YouTube of someone starting up their 2GS and noticed their lights for vsc came on but mine don't during starting up the car.

I purposely do this all the time and my tires never spin at all.
