Default Question for those with hollowed cats

Both of my cats are clogged to the point that fine metal/fiber flakes are come out of my exhaust. Lol

I was going to replace but some have indicated that since I'm running forced induction it would just eventually heat them up again and clog them up all over again; so I'm thinking of hollowing out the ones I got.

Only question is will a shop do this for me? I'm thinking no. Then what? I don't have anything to lift the car high enough for me to get fully under it. And, even if I did, I do not have the tools to remove a potentially stuck cat (ie bolts seized that need to be torched off).

What did you guys do? Also, what's the best method for hollowing? Once done I will just get a basic o2 spacer for each of the 2 downstream o2's so I can pass inspection.

Thank you for your help.

You'll need to find a "friendly" shop.

And get j-pipes on the downstream o2's to make sure there's no CEL.

I would have to assume that you have been running rich for a little while.

When I supercharged my GS, I made the mistake of installing the smaller pulley without hooking up my piggyback. (My first time boosting a car, so it was a learning process). This had me running very rich, and my cats were melted within about 2 weeks.

I should have kept the larger pulley and then I wouldnt have needed a piggyback or new cats. But I wanted more boost and didnt realize the consequences.

I went with 2 high flow Catco Carb legal Cats with custom 2.5" piping from headers to cat back exhaust. Much cheaper than oem and seemed to work really well. Passed smog just fine with these.
Plus they aren't expensive at all.
