Default Thinking in having the windows and rear windshield tinted

I will like to ask some questions from members that have experience with this ... how long will the tint film last ? will it scratch easily with the normal lowering and raising of the glass on the doors ? is it easy to maintenance , clean up , etc ?
I was thinking on 20% all around (except the front windshield, of course) or perhaps 35% ... which one is it recommended ? I live in Florida .
My GS is Pearl white with the Ivory interior . I think it will look good , but I am concerned with the hassle of maintenance , peeling, and the sort .
I started thinking about it a few days ago , but I am not sold on this completely ..
I would appreciate some opinions on it and if possible, some pics so I can compare ... Thanks

Ivy interior yea do 20%, no it is very easy to clean just like glass and most places do lifetime warranties for tint if anything bubbles or rips, it will have absolutely no affect on rolling windows down, you're good man, I did 35% cause I have black interior so it looks like it's actually 20... Go for it, I love the privacy factor and my car is like 20 degrees cooler on the Inside in summertime, it's awesome, and the visual aspect looks 1000x better, very happy I did it...

Well, I went to the tint shop and inquired a little ... turns out that 20% on the front windows is illegal in Florida , so it will have to be 35% . I would not want to have two different tints on the windows so it would have to be 35% all around , front windshield not included .
Llumar charcoal 35% in all windows and rear windshield , lifetime warranty ... but I was told that they would have to sand slightly the defroster grid on the rear windshield with 2000 sand paper to make the tint film to stick correctly . Does anyone know anything about this ? the guy told me that it would not do anything to the grid , but I am concerned , so I want to find out about this , thanks

Sand it!? That's probably the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard, go somewhere else, they did not do that to mine and it looks flawless on the back, yea two different tints is horrible do 35% all the way around then, but u could do 20%, technically my 35% is illegal in Pa, I've NEVER got profiled or pulled over and I see about 6 police on a daily, I'll go snap a pic if u want...

Never heard about sanding the defroster before and definitely never had it done to any of my vehicles before.

As far as the legality is concerned many people choose to tint outside the boundaries of their local law. Cali allows no tint on the front windows and yet almost every other car here in San Jose has them tinted. Do what you are comfortable with.

Yea sanding the rear windshield is ridiculous dont do that lol. I have had my gs tinted twice never had the rear windshield sanded and ive had zero problems at all! Ive had 20% on black interior i was great id definitely do 20% on your interior. It will look great on your white car. Plus everyone is tinted dark down there! I have James Vip'd Out tint on mine now its the Mercedes Benz Blue Tint and it looks super dope!!!!!! Haha

They also have the Llumar ceramic type which is 30% and consequently legal since Florida requires 28% at front , so it will be legal and even more darker , closer to the 20% , but it is $50.00 more expensive . It will reflect more heat too but it cost more .
This sanding thing is perhaps a trick to charge more ? I would not allow any sanding in my windshield , so that would have to be clearly stated .
I also like 20% but I believe it will be too dark inside the car all the time . 30% will balance dark and light better ... I have to think about it more

that sounds dangerous.

don't sand your defrost lines.

but then again i've never used llumar...
i've only had experience with 3M, solargard, and suntek

go to a diff shop is my recommendation.

oh and think about the sunroof too if you use it a lot.
i went 5 on the sunroof, 20 in the rears and 35 in the fronts

is this place behind shindigs?

i know its summer time and you need it cooler but your GS stands out in a good way without the tint. IMO

I am thinking if it would be worth the cost and effort .

I have 15% all around with black interior. I'm going to have it re-tinted to 5% which I should've got in the beginning. I might just add another layer of tint on it like 35% instead 15% was nice and dark when I first had it done, now it got way to light, it looks like 20%. I forgot to tint the sunroof, but I want to tint that with clear heat blocking tint, its already dark from factory.

I understand that metalized tints interfere with wireless signals from GPS , satellite radio , etc . Make sure to check that on your car .
If I finally decide to do it , I would use ceramic Llumar to avoid the interference on electronics.

Most reputable tint shops will carry quality tint and offer a warranty. You get what you pay for when it comes to tint. I've done limo tint on several cars and never received a ticket (the tint on my GS was already on when I bought it. I wish the fronts were darker). Good luck.
