ML Center Rear Subwoofer Problem

ML Center Rear Subwoofer Problem
This is my second post now. I recently bought a 2004 Gs300 ml w/nav to find out that the subwoofer was ratlling like crazy. Took it out today to find out that it has a clean rip along the voice coil. I will be gluing it, and seeing if that fixes it. But the main question, is what are the specs on the sub, because i would prefer to buy an aftermarket instead. So does anyone have the specs on the stock Mark Levinson Sub for this vehicle? Thanks. (*or known aftermarket replacements that work)
Is it the actual voice coil, or the foam surround?If its the surround, you can get a replacement foam surround kit on e bay for like 12 bucks that work out great. I Just repaired some ML door speakers with the repair kit last week on my LS430. Also, for the sub, if you arent changing anything but the sub, dont go with something that needs alot of power, it will sound like ***. I put a dual 4ohm polk audio sub in my LS wired in series to make it an 8ohm load. It was cheap and it sounds great running off the factory amp.

The stock sub is a 10 inch, 60 watt and there is also a stock amplifier. BOTH are serial components so if install any after market it will not work with the stock radio. You will need to remove and replace the entire sound system, which I recommend but that's just me because my 2004 GS that I have now came with a freaked cassette player, lol and 5 CD changer. I upgraded the whole system including double din head unit, door speakers, subwoofer and mounted two amplifiers behind the rear seat in the trunk. Sounds LOVELY. Mark Levittown could never sound like this.
Anyways, at first I tried to do exactly what your trying to do and just correct the sub. I took it to a auto shop that specializes is car audio and after 9 hours they could not figure it out (dumbasses). Turns out it was because the components are serial. So take the advise with 2GS it's all or nothing.

To clarify, it is the voice coil that was ripped. Are you sure its 8ohm? And there is no way I could just change subs, without having to change the amplifyer?

It sounds like brand new! Though I am very afraid to push it... Think I found a replacement, that wont require a new amp.. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113W254...C-W254MRW.html ... I have never heard of someone having a marine speaker in there vehicle though.. I want to try it
