Satisfaction Rate ..
I gave mine GS 300 a 10 would have been a 9.5. Now I only had it for about a year before I put her in storage but had excellent service from the dealer, only had one issue with the A/C and that was taken care of before she went into storage. Handles great. Wife now wants one
Will see what they will do for me before I leave

I give my baby a 9, only because she already is perfection in all catagories. Every car is going to have some issues nothing is absolute pure. Beats any german brand on reliability, quality, and value for the money. If i wanted all power, and handling, and don't mine stuff breaking down all the time then i would've bought bmw, mercedes just my opinion. Back on track, i will not give anything over 9 because there is always more room to improve. I will be waiting for GS460 as a new edition to my lexus family.

Coming from a rock solid Toyota Camry, I am guilty of putting in too much expectations on my 98 GS4. The car had maintainence records, low miles and a better than typical body and paint for a 6 year old car. But I've had to replace the starter and do a couple of repairs I didn't expect to do this early. Even though that's only 3 problems, that's about the same amount of problems that my 250k miled Camry has given me, not counting normal maintainence work. I'm just spoiled

I gave a 10.
I purchased my 98 with 80K miles in 04 for 18K... and it hauls, runs great, and feels solid.
Now with 92K and upgrades is absolutely awesome... no way anything for 20K could touch it.
Now my BMW rant...
My Dad taught me growing up never to buy expensive to repair German cars... No Volks, No Audi, No BMW... I did have an Audi 5000S back in the 80's... Nothing but problems.
Last year when I bought my GS, my F-I-N bought a 97 540i with 74K miles on the ODO. He bought it from a BMW enthusiast who raced BMW's for a living and kept the car up quite well. Here a list of what has broken so far...
1. Radiator
2. Hood emblem (flew off after adhesive lossened from overheating)
3. Window Regulator
4. Flimsy dash pop out cupholder
5. Dash ODO lights that show mileage (1K quote to repair)
bunch of little lights out, can't read it
6. Trunk regulator
7. Airbags light is on
The car still pulls strong but the engine sounds like a bucket of bolts... his 86 Mercedes is in better shape with more miles.
After driving my GS he said he can't believe what a great deal my car was and how much more comfortable, faster, and smoother it feels. He didn't say it but i think his next car will be a Lexus. The 0 problems I have had with my car with more miles is just a bonus.
end rant.

Give mine a 9. It would be a ten because i LOVE my car, but its got too many little things. Ie: rattles, squeaks, and vibrations at certain speeds. I know they are all easy fixes, but its still a pain in the *** trying to find where they are coming from to correct them!
Will definately buy another Lexus down the road!

10 is what i give. Have the little rattle in the back, but with music on, cant hear it. Doesnt really bother me. Have a 99 gs300 and have not had nearly the problems i have read on here that people have had with their car. The only thing i can say i dont like, is when my wife asks to drive it, scared she's going to wreck it!!!! As far as service goes, never had a problem, they always answered any question i have had. They have even suggested to me, where to buy certain parts cheaper to help with the price of fixing it. Betcha m/c or bimmer doesnt do that.

Case Summary
BMW v. Gore
517 U.S. 559 (1996)
Docket Number: 94-896
Abstract
Argued: October 11, 1995
Decided: May 20, 1996
Facts of the Case:
After purchasing a new vehicle from an authorized Alabama BMW dealership, Ira Gore, Jr. discovered that his new vehicle had been repainted. He sued BMW's American distributor (BMW), alleging that it committed fraud by failing to inform him that his car had been repainted. The Alabama Circuit Court entered judgment, following a jury verdict, awarding Gore $4,000 in compensatory damages and $4 million in punitive damages. On appeal from the trial judge's denial of BMW's post-trial petition to set aside the punitive damages as 'grossly excessive,' the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that the punitive damages were not so excessive as to violate BMW's Fourteenth Amendment right to due process. Due to a jury calculation error, however, the Alabama Supreme Court reduced Gore's punitive damage award to $2 million. BMW appealed to the Supreme Court.
So basically, BMW USA sold cars with body damaged during the Atlantic Transit by fixing and painting the damages, without telling the consumer. Consumer sued, won $4000 for the devaluation of the car and $4million to punish BMW's "wrongful behavior". Supreme Court said that's too much, punishment shouldn't be any more than 10 times the damage suffered by the consumer ($4000 x 10 = $40,000).
two morals of this case:
1. Jurors are idiots down in Alabama
2. LexusPride has a point about BMW
(yes, I am a lawyer... sorry)
Had to give mine a 10, although I haven't owned it very long (2 months) it is noticeably better than either the Acura (used low mileage Integra) or Mercedes (used low mileage 450SEL) I owned. The older Audi's I've had were nice, but mechanical/electrical issues drove me away from them. Time will tell. Additional info, the reason I have a GS is because the wife's '01 RX has totally impressed us after 1 year and 23K miles of trouble free ownership.
I have only had mine for 2 months and can't really rate it yet. The comfort and power certainly meet/exceed my expectations. There is more road noise than I expected but it is still much better than most cars. After I get my sound system installed with some more soundproofing it will probably not bother me. If this car meets my expectations for reliability I expect to give it a rating of 9 ....... but I currently have some issues with the security system not allowing me to program my garage door opener, new master key, or seat/mirror settings.

An absolutely great car. Enough power to get me into or out of trouble. The best thing is the dependibility. I have friends with "benz's, Audi's, bimmers, porches and lincolns, the thing they all have in common is their cars spend some time in the shop. My 70K+ used Lexus has, with the exception of replacing the battery, never failed. Everything just works.
