Have been experiencing a rough idle on my gs recently. When car is in drive, accelerates fine drives fine. When i come to a stop, the idle is rough. After driving 10min plus the idle gets rougher. Ive chenged the plugs, and wires. My only guess now is the iac valve. ive pulled some electrical connections while car was on inclusing the one connected to iac. I cant remember the exact code but it was something like "throttle air"....something like that. The cel came on when that connection was pulled. obv it will come on if im pulling the conn, so how do i know what the real problem is. if i get a code reading w/o a cel to see if any codes nondetrimental to the engine show up, maybe a some codes will show idk. please help

 

Does it rough idle without pressing on brakes or only when in park? Could be a vacuum leak. Also, how's the battery situation? Pops was having the same problem and we just couldnt figure out the problem. As time went by, it got worse and worse to where the car would die at a stop light, he would have to hold the brake and give gas to keep it on. I replaced the battery for him and the rough idle went away. I had those same problems (as my dads) on another car and it was a brake booster problem. Also, could be a bad motor mount. Just my pennies.

see the thing is, the idle only occurs when your at a stop, the engine runs fine, and acceleration is fine. the car has never staggered and died on me. im positive its the iacv as well. i have no cel or anything. as for the battery its two years old and was recharged to 100% at autozone a month ago.
