Default Need Help|Input

Hello all I have a 99 gs300 just hit 217k I have had it for 4 years I got some horrible news I was coming home from a long trip and blew the head gasket I have called around and I have been told its better to just replace the engine, anyone know of some good info on this or if you would rather just drop a 2jzgte in it?

The GTE swap is relatively inexpensive, but after you add an A/F controller, wiring harness plus install you are going to spend 3-4 times what it would cost to go get a used GE motor from a junkyard. I bet you can find a low mileage one shipped for about $900-1200. I bet you would spend at least $800 for a head gasket, and that's assuming the cylinder head is ok and doesn't need any machining.. I would go the used engine route all day.
