Traction Control not working.
I've had a search and not found the answer I'm looking for.
I have a 1998 GS2 and the traction control button doesn't work. It appears to be a dead switch as it does nothing.
Could it be a faulty switch or has anyone else found the route of the problem?
Thanks.

Have you tested it? All of that is intertwined the Traction control, the ABS it's all handled by the same hardware. I'd take it out, get it up to 40-50 MPH (make sure nobody is behind you) and slam on the brakes to see if the car skids or whether the ABS engages.
If there's no ABS, I'd check the fuses. Do the traction control and ABS light come on when you crank the car up?

No lights on dash when car is started.
Following a test the ABS is not working, a might skid proved that!
I will definitely check the fuse tomorrow, any idea if a fuse number?
Thanks for you help so far guys!

When you crank the car up the ABS and traction control lights should come on then go out. It's a bulb test that all cars do. How about the service engine light? Does it come on? Not sure what they call it in the UK. It's a "check engine light" in the colonies.
An engine management light? All lights are showing when car is started and left to run.
I will try doing a diagnostics check one the OBD port tomorrow. Hopefully that should bring up something.

If you can, take a picture of the car's instrument cluster when you crank the key to "ON" (when all the lights should be on), then another picture after the car is running (all warning lights should now be off except seatbelt/door or whatever is appropriate). Maybe that will help us figure out if you really do have missing bulbs that you might want to look into replacing along with fixing the actual problem.
The thing that struck me is that if the ABS has failed the normal way, I'd think he should also have a check engine light lit. The fact he doesn't mention one suggests to that there might be more going on then normal "ABS Failed".
