Shaking around 55 to 65mphs fixed!!
My car was shaking at 55 to 65 mph finally fixed. A very common problem. I tried different wheels and tires and were not able to solve the 55 -65 mph shaking mystery. Finally after changed my 4 shocks/struct, 95% of my shaking disappeared! The minor 5% is the bent 18" rim I guess only noticeable when on really flat surface.

Yea, I meant the caster arm. Sorry thought I would keep it simple, some people on here describe it that way.. Anyway, worn out caster arm bushings contribute to the shaking your describing. if yours are bad consider replacing them. a way to tell if they are bad is lifting the car and looking at the rubber bushing. it will look torn and worn out.

I dont know what shocks/struts my mechanic used. I posted a post and nobody reply so I gave to my mechanic and asked him to figure out for me. I guess either Monroe or OEM.
I didnt lower the car but I had the LS400 calipers and RCA with spacer in the front. I think it lowered my car like 2 inches in the front.

Monroe makes crap for every other car I have ever tried them on, I sure hope it isn't. Might be good for the first 1000 miles, then they break in and are junk.
Gabriel used to be better, but they are just as bad as Monroe last few I have tried. The only good ones were the Special E or Ultras, else, junk.
I tend to keep a bad/blown oem shock on over a new Monroe....

Interesting topic, was just looking over a GM bulletin on just this sort of a topic. They "fix" after all the tests and verifications were to put a SOFTER bushing in the rear lower control arm.
Note that the bushings do tend to harden with age, and our control arm #2 bushing at the body would be essentially the same bushing.
I would bet if you, for diagnosing this, take a ratchet strap and wrap around that arm, pulling it to the rear, drive it and see if it changes. And conversely, pull it towards the front and see if it changes.
