Default Any double din kit that doesn't suck?

I ordered two different double din and they both suck. One is aftermarket, but the plastic has texture on it and it's black and two pieces. I then bought the OEM Toyota one, but that doesn't fit right either. There are gaps on the side of the head unit. Is there any double din out there that fits like a glove?

The Toyota one is supposed to fit like a glove. That's about as good as it's going to get without fabricating your own.

I don't think it's my deck. I noticed the same thing on other people's car, but I was hoping the gap would be smaller. My cheap pos double din has less gap than the factory one. I think this double din is actually made for some kind of factory option items by toyota than made for double din head units. The round edges says it all.
The cheap one has less gap but it fit like crap and look like crap.

The OEM one has massive gap where I can fit a baby pinky finger in there. LOL

Maybe it is your deck.. what size is your deck. My 7" kenwood double din fits like a glove in my dash kit with no deck trimming. In your cheap pick, looks like there is a deck trim. In your oem pick, I see the gap but no deck trim. Wierd, toyota dash kit is supposed to fit snug. Is that the pioneer 4500 double din you have? I almost bought that deck today... is it any good? My kenwood is coming out for repair. Screen froze... anyway, maybe its the size of the deck.

It's Pioneer AVHX8500BHS . I like how I can mirror my phone's screen on to the deck. I haven't install it yet, but I like the specs on it. Aren't these double dins standard in sizes? Mine is 7" like all other double dins. Looking at other car brands this unit fits like a glove

My Pioneer dd fits the same way. That's why I haven't installed it yet.

Are you missing a deck surround? I have the same deck and it fits fine.

They do make different size DDs. Ill ask my local car audio about the install of those pioneer decks tomorrow. I go in to pick up my new kenwood tomorrow. Thank goodness for factory warranty. If its a easy fix ill get back to yall tomorrow. I just may need to change to that pioneer 8500

Looks like pioneer is not the only one with this issue.

I think AVISRACING is correct you are missing the surround I am using an aftermarket metra kit the color is off but I wasn't too worried about that because I'm going to dip AC controls and the surround with Woodgrain. But there was an accessory ring that came with the kit that snaps around the head unit
