Guys,
I know this is an idiotic question but I know nothing about audio and was wondering what exactly this meant. I have seen single, 1.5, and 2 DIN. Is this the size of the headunit?? So if someone says it needs a 1.5 is that in relation to the gap to put it in??
Thx,
Jonny

DIN is just the size of the headunit. Most head units are single din. 2 DIN would be a head unit the size of 2 single DINS stacked on top of each other. So if you had a hole that was a 2 DIN you could fit a 1.5 DIN in there, but it would need a trim kit to fill in the gaps. Certain cars will only fit certain sizes, not sure what you drive, but most newer Lexi have a huge headunit area that can accomodate 2 DIN.
"DIN" = Deutsche Industrie Normen(German industrial standard)
i dont have the exact number but single DIN opening is about 2 inch height. 1.5 DIN size ussually found in GM?chrysler cars, while japanese cars use single or double DIN

Hey man,
Thx for your help. Is there a specific measurement that equals 1 DIN? Like a certain amount of inches?
Peace,
