HELP Crazy Sound and vibrating Brake pedal
My 2000 GS 300 has developed a weird sound form behind the dash shortly after being turned on. It sounds like Star Trek phasers going off.The brake pedal is also vibrating in conjunction with the sound. No warning lights or dash lights are coming on. Break fluid level is within normal limits.
Anybody have any clue what this could possibly be? I'm Not sure how to upload a video but I have put in the link to the YouTube connection. It is insanely loud.

Sup broh.. I know exactly where that is coming from. it's your ABS/brake booster that just went bad. Open your hood and get near the BMC to confirm.
Mine did the same thing about 2-3 years ago, got another used one and put it on and now it's doing the same thing.

what a weird *** noise. im not sure if its your brake booster, but i can tell you that driving with a bad booster isnt necessarily bad, your brakes will still work, you just dont have the assistance of engine vacuum. but of course that sound is annoying as hell so i would definitely want to fix it.
as for the vibration, one thing that causes vibration is warped rotors, which are very inexpensive to replace usually, approximately 30-40$ from aftermarket companies

But you guys are awesome, I will definitely check out the booster. I'm just curious if the sound is an intentional alarm for the failure or just the sound the booster makes when its gone bad.
I'll check out others threads but do you guys know if any ones posted DIY on booster replacement? Quite honestly had never heard of a booster.

After looking at part costs on Swell parts ($2300 for the entire assembly) and judging the complexity of the job I decided to let the professionals take care of replacing the master brake cylinder. Rebel Auto charge me $2100 total. Not sure if that was a good deal or not but sound decent when the cheapest I could fine the part was $2300. Scary thing was they weren't sure if that was the problem. I'm really curious if you could get away replacing just a section of the MBC.
So far no sounds with the new one.
