Bad water pump or pulley?
Wassup CL!
My '99 GS3 has 175k. I'm about to finally get my seals, gaskets, & belt(no cracks but replacing anyway) changed out. I replaced the timing/pump at 133k but with NON-OEM parts. There's a "washing machine" sound coming from the water pump or the pulley. Should I swap it out for a oem one? Sounds like a bad pump or pulley? There's some oil leaks due to bad seals so there's oil on the water pump too. None seems to be on the serpentine belt. Thanks! -Rene-

I would suggest going with stock pump. Probably a bearing going bad. I'm about to do my 2nd belt and pump. This time around my mechanic is telling me I should replace ALL pulleys, tensioners, and belts. I'm at 208K, and plan on keeping it a while longer.
My A/C compressor is already making bearing noises. I found a DIY here to replace just the bearing, and where to get it, since Lexus won't sell just the bearing.
